Unexpected Hiatus

March 10, 2018

Friends – As you might have noticed over the last 1.5 weeks, I’ve been completely silent on the blog. Due to technical issues, I am unable to access my wordpress.org blog to write posts. However, I am now able to access wordpress.com to send you this message (and to begin blog hopping again!). While this does mean I can now publish posts on my blog, I cannot use any of the awesome plug-ins I have come to rely so heavily upon. Most significantly, this affects my ability to publish book reviews.

While my intention was to take a hiatus from 3/20-4/1, it’s obvious this hiatus will truly be a full month away due to my technical concerns.Β I don’t have the time to commit to working around these limitations in a way which is acceptable to me. I have so many great posts I had slated, too! Ah, well. We will just have to wait. Wedding planning is going well and I am finally pushing beyond overwhelmed into excited– I never thought this day would come.

If things get back up and running before I leave for the wedding, you can be certain I’ll get up some posts! Until then, I appreciate your patience while I work with my amazing admin to get this resolved. I miss you all so much!

I get so mad when I’m paying for something digital and it breaks because I can’t fix it myself! I’m happy to hear you aren’t anxious about your wedding. In my case, I was cool, but other people would get pushy, which stressed me out.

    • Jackie B March 11, 2018 at 10:23 pm

EXACTLY. I know that if I wanted to, I could spend the time to learn all the things and learn to fix it myself. However, that sounds like work. I’d rather pay someone to care for it. That said, I haven’t found the best solution for getting stuff fixed yet. Basically, between my Admin and myself we don’t have the time to get to it before the wedding. πŸ™

I didn’t say I wasn’t anxious at all. Just changing my direction emotionally a bit. πŸ˜‰ I personally don’t feel like anything is amiss. But, just like you, other people are getting pushy and I don’t like it. Their needs are making me… frustrated? I think that’s the right word. I’m just trying to let go and enjoy it! πŸ˜€

Right, and I’m glad you aren’t anxious. That’s all

    Get well, {technically speaking} soon!

Thank you, Icky!! That means a lot to me. <3 I always appreciate you stopping by and commenting.

Hope it all sorts out my friend! But very excited for your upcoming big day <3

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:30 pm

Thank you so much, Danielle! I hope it gets sorted soon, too. I don’t like being unable to update my blog! πŸ™

Super excited for the big day! 13 days and counting. πŸ˜‰

  • Kristina March 10, 2018 at 11:50 am

Oh no ! I hope you will figure how to fix this, and that it can be resumed soon ! xx

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:32 pm

Thank you, Kristina! I hope I can figure it out soon too. Super strange; but this is something I am sadly a bit used to dealing with when it comes to WordPress.org. I (almost) knew what I was getting into when I decided to be self-hosted… Almost. πŸ˜‰

Ah, technology. Enjoy the time away planning your wedding and being present for yourself and others. Good luck fixing the bugs!

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:33 pm

Thank you so much, Helen! I hope that a bit of time away from the blog will also let me come back and love it even more. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? πŸ˜‰

  • Amanda @Cover2CoverMom March 10, 2018 at 7:38 pm

Of course you need to go on a hiatus when I come back after falling off the face of the world for 3 weeks lol Why can’t we ever coordinate our hiatuses?

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:34 pm

Hahaha. In this case, it’s technology against me more than anything! I don’t *want* to be on a hiatus yet. I like to think of it as the World telling me to stop blogging and get back to focusing on wedding planning. πŸ˜‰ Just don’t go on a brief hiatus when I get back in April!

  • Laila@BigReadingLife March 10, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Hope you get it all figured out eventually! We’ll be here when you’re ready and able to write again! Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:31 pm

Thank you! I hope so too– nothing worse than feeling helpless when your baby is sick, right? πŸ˜‰

It’s so reassuring to know that people will still be around. That means so much to me. I cannot wait to return and share all the happy memories. πŸ˜€

  • Cahleen @ The Alt Story March 11, 2018 at 5:39 am

Hope things get up and running soon, and congrats on the wedding!

    • Jackie B March 11, 2018 at 10:11 pm

Thank you so much, Cahleen! I also hope to be up and running soon. Blogging is an amazing break from all the chaos of my life. But I’m glad that there are so many amazing people around to uplift me even when my blog isn’t the best. πŸ˜€ Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  • Annemieke March 11, 2018 at 2:06 pm

Focus on the important things, your wedding and your life. We’ll still be here when you get back. πŸ™‚ I hope your day will be amazing.

    • Jackie B March 12, 2018 at 4:01 pm

Thank you so much, Annemeike! That means the world to me. We all worry a bit about people vanishing when we go on these breaks, right? The reassurance is comforting. πŸ˜€

  • Novels And Nonfiction March 11, 2018 at 2:18 pm

That must be so frustrating! I think you deserve a break and i’m sure you have tons to do since it’s getting close to your wedding πŸ™‚ I hope you have a wonderful celebration and we’ll be in the look out for when you can start posting again.

    • Jackie B March 11, 2018 at 10:10 pm

It’s *super* frustrating. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I do have a ton to do, but I like avoiding it by procrastinating and reading/blogging. πŸ˜‰ I do need to catch up on my blog posts and get more details finalized for the wedding, so hopefully I can start to catch up with my blog down. It’s weird– I can only comment through the app and WP.com feed– I cannot comment on my own posts on my own blog. I don’t like this strange feeling of being disconnected!

Take your time Jackie no problem at all! πŸ˜€ I took some time off myself hahah I think we all needed that πŸ˜‰ Technical issues are so frustrating though T_T Hope you can solve it !
