Well, friends, I’m leaving on a jet plane today! I will be spending 2.5 weeks in Croatia (woohoo!) which is quite a long travel adventure from my home in Wisconsin, USA. Why Croatia? Because one of my friends, who moved to Istanbul a few years ago, is getting married in beautiful Motovoun, Croatia. So, why not?! It’s the first time my significant other will be leaving the country, too. I’m super excited.
Obviously, this means I have a wonderful TBR to get through! Here are the books I am planning to read on my trip:
I am reading along with Krysti @ YA and Wine’s The 5th Wave series read along. It’s much more engaging than I expected it to be, actually! I’m about 1/3 done with it, and I look forward to finishing it up quickly on our flights.
The current Big Library Read novel. I’d never heard of it before, but as you all know, I love a good book club discussion. This is a change of pace from my usual reading, too.
Amanda @ Cover2Cover Mom read and reviewed this book a while ago now. It definitely caught my eye and I’ve been waiting for it to arrive in the library. Bam! It’s here! Time to finally understand Amanda’s passion.
After the TTT list this past week, it was time to start one of those series. I honestly don’t think I’ll finish this book (or even get to it?) on this trip, but now there is a copy in my grubby paws. So, gosh darn it, let’s do this.
And, obviously, to wrap this list up we’ve got the next book for the #AnneReadAlong2017 –> Anne of the Island. I am so excited to read this next book and chat about this with all of you. Anne Shirley is really worming her way into my heart. I cannot wait to follow her to collect!
Unfortunately, there won’t be many new posts in my absence. I won’t be taking my laptop, and the app just doesn’t get me what I want from a posting perspective. I tried SUPER hard to get my life together enough to schedule some blog posts while I’m gone. Alas, I was only able to get TWO done. How embarrassing. I didn’t even get my fun post for #AnneReadAlong20107 (sorry Jane!) written in time. I was diligently scheduling things, but they never came to be.
I will miss you all! I hope that you don’t mind my absence. 😉 Please forgive my silence. I can’t wait to get back and FINALLY write all those posts I was planning on.
See you in three weeks,

Word of advice: don’t try to read all the posts we write that you missed while gone. You’ll get into a bloggy backlog and never get out!
*waves goodbye*
Thanks for the advice! I just began my quest to catch up and YIKES– you guys write a ton! Which is *great*, but a bit overwhelming. I’ll take it day by day, I guess. 😀
It feels good to be back.
Good luck! I tend to not read tags, WWW, Top-Ten Tuesday, etc., which helps keep my reading manageable.
I completely get that. I typically skip all tags and memes– but I have a guilty pleasure around reading and commenting on other people’s lists. I dunno why. I hope to stick to just reviews for a while, however. That should keep me sane!
Some of the Top-Ten Tuesdays catch my attention, so I read those! But, it’s not that often. Also, if you want to talk more about blogging, community, etc., feel free to DM me on Twitter 🙂
I hope you have a great time in Croatia!!
Thanks, Kourtni! I hope so too.
Have a wonderful time!!!!
Thanks! I can’t wait.
Awe! That’s so exciting. I’ve heard that place is beautiful. I hope you have loads of fun!! Great book choices btw. I love Mistborn!!
Thanks! I can’t wait to read the whole trilogy. But it will be time consuming, for sure.
I’m so excited for you, Jackie! Travel safe and have so much fun! You must do a blog post when you get back with pictures! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying The 5th Wave too. Thanks again for participating with us. 🙂
Thanks, Krysti! It didn’t even occur to me to do a return post… but that’s a great idea! I’ll definitely do something like that. 😀 It was a ton of fun, but I’m glad to be back to the daily grind. I’ve missed blogging a ton!
I’m so glad you had a great time! Can’t wait to hear all about it! I can’t believe it’s already over though. It feels like you were just leaving. I’m sure much more so for you. We’ve missed you around here!
How fun! I hope you enjoy your trip! What a great collection of books to be kicking back with… I’ll look forward to your return
Thanks, Dani! I just got back and reading went fairly well– a bit differently than planned, but that’s life, isn’t it? I’ll have a post-vaca post up soon. 🙂 I missed you.
Yay! Pictures! (Pictures too, right!?) We all missed you too!
Have fun at the wedding. And have fun tackling the TBR as well
Thanks, Resh Susan! It was SO MUCH fun– but honestly, it feels good to be back. 😀
Have fun!
Thanks, Destiny!! I appreciate the well-wishes.
I never schedule during breaks honestly. Call me odd, but I don;t like to have something up that everyone is commenting on and I am not responding to 😉 It is a weird hang up I know. I am so excited for you. Have fun and safe travels. Return to me with good stories <3
I totally get that. It is not a weird hang up at all! But with the #AnneReadAlong2017, I didn’t want to leave Jane in a lurch. So, I tried. I would love to comment on everything in the moment, but regularly posting is important to me. My goal for the year is to post 2 posts a week and I was trying to maintain that. Oh well! As the French say, c’est la vie!
I hope to come back with many great stories. The question is- how do I get a book-themed post together about my trip?
Life happens <3 I think you deserve the break so no one will think too hardly of you 😉 I am excited to here all about it! Not sure how you can incorporate books into the post, but you should take some fun shots of your books in various locations). Maybe pair some of the food, etc with books!
OH MAN. Why didn’t I do this when I was traveling?! I am ashamed. But I did get some good photos– perhaps I can photoshop them?
Haha go for it!
Have an amazing trip!!! Can’t wait to hear all about it 🙂
I’m so excited you are reading Stella by Starlight! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ((fingers crossed you don’t hate it and despise me afterwards lol))
I just finished Anne of the Island yesterday! I think you will like it much better than the second book 🙂 I loved reading about Anne’s college adventures!
Thanks, Amanda! I hope I love it too– reading has gone much more slowly than I expected on this trip, but I think I set the bar too high for reading on an international trip. I have been doing a ton of sightseeing and far less reading than I expected. And I promise, no matter how I feel about this book, I could never despise you.
Anne of the Island is so far much more my speed. That chapter featuring Davy felt weird- but Anne in college is still Anne and I adore her. She’s just having more mature daydreams!
I hope you’ll have a lovely time! Safe travels and have fun, Jackie! <3 <3
Thanks, Marie! So far, tons of fun. I can’t wait for the second half of our adventure. (Thanks delayed flights in the Zagreb for this post. )
Have a great time. See you when you get back. 😉
Thanks!! The first half has been great– I can’t wait to share about my adventures when I return.
Just you have fun! And those look like great reads 🙂 hope the plane flights go well!
Thanks, Evelina! Flights were SUPER rough in the way into Croatia, mostly because CDG was an absolute nightmare… but we made it safely, if a bit late. Now we are flying to Zadar. Woohoo, airport downtime! The only good thing about this is it means time to check up on my blog.
Yeah, that’s a good thing I hope you’re traveling safely, cause here we’re having the worst storm ever. It WOKE me in the morning, and later in the day we had so much precipitation that we were 1cm away from emergency measures o.o
We had a ton of storms during travel- it was the most turbulent travel I’ve experienced yet! Which is a shame, as that was David’s first international trip… oh well. Updates coming soon!
Oh yeah, we also had crazy storms during this time. It’s really too bad!
Have fun! Take lots of pics! <3
We’re only halfway done and I’ve run out of iCloud space! I must be doing something right.
Can’t wait to hear about your travels (if you write about them!) Have a great time!
I think I might have to, at this point. I want to tie in books somehow. Hmmm…. I should ponder that. As always, you give me amazing ideas Laila!
While I will miss your posts–I definitely think you have a good excuse! I hope you have a fantastic vacation!
D’aw, thanks Sarah! That means a lot to me. So far, so good! But airport downtime means catching up on the blog. Yay!
ooh I really hope you have a wonderful time!!! And enjoy all your reading!!!
Thank you! I haven’t gotten as much reading in as I would have liked thus far, but I’m in Croatia, so I can’t complain.
You’re welcome!! hahaa well hope you get more chance to read (and enjoy the sun!!) 😀
I hope you have a lot of fun in Croatia!
