Bout of Books 18 Recap Day 3: Book to Movie

January 5, 2017

Poor Day Three. I barely got to read anything! Bout of Books – I need you to keep me on my game! bout-of-books-18And while it was a shame, I can’t wait until Friday night when things lighten up a bit. I’ve been so busy the past few days! Friday through Sunday will be nice and filled with reading, however. 🙂

January 4th – Day 3 Review

Books Read: Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou, Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor

Completed Book: N/A

Goal Updates (2/10):

  • I will read for at least 60 minutes each day, including at least 4 straight hours on at least one day.
    • 4 hours straight were accomplished on Day 1! Thanks, bank holidays!
  • I will finish a book which I am currently reading.
    • Gilded Cage was not intended for this goal, but I did start it before the readathon and finish it on day 1! I’m still hoping that I can get through a book for work… This is looking like a Weekend activity.
  • I will read one book from start to finish.
    • Akata Witch will be it! I just… need to read more.
  • I will participate actively on Twitter and on my blog.
    • Nailed it.

Bout of Books Daily Challenge: the-night-circusBook to Movie: Have a book you think would make an excellent movie? Now’s your chance to share it! Go as big or as simple as you want. Share fanart, casting choices, or just a book or series you think would be OUTSTANDING on the big screen. Use the hashtags #BoBBookToMovie and #boutofbooks to share your picks!

? The Night Circus would make an AMAZING film! I can’t wait. Bring it on I’d love it. 🙂

Upcoming Day 4 Goals

Currently Reading: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor, Mom & Me & Mom by Mata Angelou

Bout of Books Daily Challenge: Book Spine Poetry: A perennial favorite is back! Go hunting through your books and unleash your inner poet! Use the titles of your chosen books to create a poem. Snap a picture of your creation and share it with the hashtags #BookSpinePoetryBoB and #boutofbooks.

Honestly, this one will be a bit disappointing. I am reading almost exclusively Kindle books, and I don’t have specific ideas on what books to read (only totals), so it’s hard to take a photo. I just… I’ll take a stab at it. <shrugs> I apologize in advance for being a disappointment.

Other Bout of Books Posts:

What do you think?

  • Have you read The Night Circus? Do you think it would make a great movie?
  • What do you think of book spine poetry? Have you ever written poems with the spines of your books?
  • Do you think these daily update posts are worthwhile? (Honesty, please!)

Ooo! I need to read the Gilded Cage too. My Bout of Books hasn’t been going very well, but I’m hoping to get a few solid hours in this weekend (though I’m not going to make my goal by any means). I’m glad you’re having fun!

I’m so glad that we have a weekend to end things. It feels good knowing that I can carve out some time this weekend to crank through some books. I really hope to finish one of my in progress books tonight (I’m looking at you, Mom & Me & Mom!), but who knows what will happen.

Good luck meeting your challenge, Sarah!

The Night Circus is one of my all time favorites!

    • Jackie B January 6, 2017 at 8:31 am

ME TOO! I remember finishing the book, closing the back cover, and just sitting in silence for a while. I felt like I had just finished a good meal. It was perfect. I hope it holds up! I want to re-read it again this year. 🙂

Yes, great choice for a book to movie! I would loved to see The Night Circus on film – adored the book.

    • Jackie B January 9, 2017 at 8:50 am

Yes! Particularly if they had the budget to really lay on the special effects; we could have one heck of a fantastical show!

I’m going to go against the current here, but I really didn’t like this book. I listened to it 6 years ago (already?!) and here is my rant on the audio:

    • Jackie B January 9, 2017 at 9:07 am

That’s my favorite part of blogging, actually– I love hearing the opinions of others. I wonder if the audiobook format was a reason your struggled with it? I find that it’s easier for me to stop paying attention and miss important little details when listening to audiobooks.

I’m currently reading The Night Circus and I’m loving all of it! I can definitely see how amazing it would be as a movie.

    • Jackie B January 9, 2017 at 9:08 am

Yay! I’m so glad! I would really love to see some of the acts Celia and Marco put together towards the end of the book come to life. I think they could be absolutely breathtaking if done well. 🙂

I already commented on this post. But now I cant find it. (Delete one if two comments appear). Hope you enjoy Akata Witch. I read another Nnedi earlier this year and loved it

    • Jackie B January 9, 2017 at 9:09 am

Technology can be such a pain. Sorry, Resh Susan!
I really enjoyed Akata Witch, and I hope to have my review published soon. I just started her novella, Binti, last night as well. Nnedi’s voice is fresh and new to me, which I love.

I’m one of the few who hasn’t read The Night Circus! I don’t even know why! (Sometimes books just miss you, I think.) I am still open to reading it, and it may be one of my “random picks” this year, since my library branch has it.

    • Jackie B January 9, 2017 at 9:11 am

I can’t recommend it enough. I really hope to do get to it! I understand about books missing you, though. I hadn’t read Little Women until now. I just started it. Oops! But that’s okay. There are tons of great books and only so many hours in the day.

That said, The Night Circus is one of my all time favorites. I strongly recommend it. 🙂
