#AnneReadAlong2017 : The End of Anne Giveaway

January 10, 2018

It’s hard to believe 8 months have long since passed. Back in May, Jane @ Greenish Bookshelf and I committed to hosting an Anne of Green Gables series read-along. It’s been so much fun! I’ve loved reading such a well-loved, yet unknown to me, series all the way through. I’ve met so many amazing people, too! This journey has been an incredible ride. It’s been wonderful to see everyone’s passion, love, and interest in not only Anne Shirley but also L.M Montgomery.

December should have been the proper wrap-up, but life got in the way and I still have to finish Rilla of Ingleside (I’m LOVING it this far!). While I might be a month behind, I want to thank everyone who has stuck with us this long. This means we’re hosting an END OF ANNE GIVEAWAY!!!

End of Anne Giveaway

This giveaway will be U.S. and Canada only** and will include the following items:

  • A Litographs Anne of Green Gables tote water-resistant 17″ x 14.75″ tote bag
  • One 8×10 Anne of Green Gables print from CarrotTopPaperShop featuring the quote “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?” from Anne of Green Gables
  • Anne of Green Gables bonded leather hardcover book
** Sorry international friends! Keep your eyes peeled for future Giveaway– perhaps in March. Hint hint. 😉

The giveaway is officially open and will run through Friday, January 26th at midnight central time. There are multiple ways to enter, so make certain you take advantage of them! The winner will have three days to respond and will be announced on Monday, January 29th!

Between now and then, expect to see my review of Rilla of Ingleside, plus a wrap-up post or two. I am sad to see this read along go, but I’ve loved every minute. I hope you have too! It might be 2018, but the #AnneReadAlong2017 never seems to die. 🙂 Well, at least it never will in my heart.

What do you think?

  • Have you been participating in #AnneReadAlong2017? Which post did you enjoy writing/reading the most?

What a beautiful giveaway and fun way to end what has been a fantastic read-a-long. I have enjoyed all of your Anne related reviews and content so much. Such love and nostalgia!

    • Books, Vertigo and Tea January 10, 2018 at 4:54 pm

Head up – it is telling me the twitter account for @greenishbookshelf does not exist. Not sure if it is an issue on my end (quite possibly) but wanted to let you know 🙂

OY! Thanks for catching that! It’s just an autocorrect typo. Fixed now! O_o

    • Jackie B January 12, 2018 at 10:56 pm

Thank you so much, Danielle! I am glad that we can offer this giveaway. It feels like an appropriate ending to the #AnneReadAlong2017. I’m glad we’ve inspired love and nostaliga within you. It’s been wonderful reading these books. I cannot wait to feel those myself when I look back.

  • Grab the Lapels January 10, 2018 at 10:53 pm

Oh, I’m so glad you’re loving Rilla. I actually grew to love her more than Anne! I know, it doesn’t seem possible! If I knew where you were in the book I would explain. #NoSpoilers

    • Jackie B January 12, 2018 at 10:42 pm

It definitely doesn’t seem possible, as little Rilla can barely stand to hold this baby, let alone love it (which I’m sure she’ll grow to do)— I cannot wait to get home and keep reading! I’m definitely addicted at this point. How does Montgomery do it?!

  • Krysta January 10, 2018 at 11:11 pm

Thanks for hosting! I love reading everyone’s reviews and their different perspectives on the novels.

    • Jackie B January 12, 2018 at 11:16 pm

Thank you so much, Krysta! It’s been a ton of fun and I’m sorry to see it go. But that’s the way of these things, isn’t it?

      • Krysta January 13, 2018 at 11:06 am

Next up, the Emily of New Moon read-along! 😉

        • Jackie B January 14, 2018 at 12:59 pm

Haha– Indeed! That seems so much more reasonable, too. It’s only three books, right?! Perhaps a little bit of down time and then another read along.

I wonder if reading a single book would be easier than a series?

          • Krysta January 14, 2018 at 1:51 pm

A single book might be a good idea. Then you can spread it out over a few weeks and people will have time to catch up if need be!

            • Jackie B January 20, 2018 at 10:02 pm

Any suggestions for read along books? 😉 I’m totally open!

              • Krysta January 23, 2018 at 10:19 am

Maybe The Blue Castle? People seem to like that one.

  • theorangutanlibrarian January 11, 2018 at 8:24 pm

Wow what a wonderful giveaway!! Good luck to all! 😀

    • Jackie B January 13, 2018 at 9:19 am

Seconded! I am super excited about it. I cannot wait to find out the winner– we’re still a few weeks out, but I want to send these off right away! 😀

  • Amanda @Cover2CoverMom January 12, 2018 at 4:04 pm

I want those prizes!!! Thank you so much Jackie & Jane for hosting this giveaway and the readalong. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to participate as much as I wanted to, BUT I am committed to finishing the series 🙂 I hope to start the audiobook of Rainbow Valley after my current audiobook read. I’ll make sure to spread the news about the giveaway!

    • Jackie B January 13, 2018 at 9:30 am

Haha– I want these prizes too! Jane and I were joking that we’ll have to work the system some how so we can win. 😉 That’s the best and worst part about hosting giveaways. For sure.

It’s okay you weren’t able to participate as much as you wanted to. I’m glad you were along for the ride on some level! I really hope to finish the series. Rilla of Ingleside has a lot of wonderful things in it. I am super excited that my evening plans consist of hanging out with some tea and Rilla tonight!

      • Amanda @Cover2CoverMom January 14, 2018 at 5:43 pm

Well feel free to throw the giveaway so I win… that would be almost as you guys winning right?

How’s Rilla going? Did you finish?

  • John Smith January 12, 2018 at 7:54 pm

“Comment on any January #AnneReadAlong2017 post on Greenish Bookshelf OR Death by Tsundoku. Let us know which username you commented with below.” This wording is confusing to me since the only January posts so far have been the final giveaway posts on each site. And here I am, this is a comment, I am me. –But I’m glad to say that that edition of the book looks really super!

    • Jackie B January 12, 2018 at 10:48 pm

Haha. Thanks, John! We both have additional posts coming out later this month too. You’re right that the wording is strange! I didn’t even consider that… We just want to make certain people are sticking with us in the home stretch. 😀

  • Dani @ Perspective of a Writer January 14, 2018 at 3:17 pm

What a great giveaway Jackie! And such a fun way to end what has been an inspiring read-a-long. Actually I came in late to the game otherwise I would have probably participated. I hope to see you host other read-a-longs and readathons! You are so inspiring and upbeat, it’s what I love best about you ♥️

    • Jackie B January 20, 2018 at 10:14 pm

Thank you so much, Dani!!! I have really enjoyed co-hosting this read along. It’s the first time I’ve done something like this, and I cannot wait to do it again sometime. I’m thinking I’ll pick a single book next time we go through it, though. 😉 Any suggestions?! I’m open. 😀

D’aw. Thanks, Dani! I appreciate it. It’s easy to be positive and upbeat about something you’re passionate about with such a wonderful community to share it with. <3

  • Shouni January 22, 2018 at 8:51 pm

Oh my gosh I love this! I’m kind of sad you’re almost done with the Anne books because I love reading your reviews of them 🙂 . I’m sure I’ve told you this before but my favorite would always be the first one (with Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island being close seconds). My least favorite would probably be Windy Poplars. I would love to participate in a future read along! I prefer stand alone because I;m sure I would fall behind quickly if I was to read a whole series 😀

    • Jackie B January 28, 2018 at 11:20 pm

Thank you so much, Shouni!! That means a ot to me; I’m glad these #AnneReadAlong2017 posts were well received. 😀 It makes it all worthwhile.

We are totally of the same mind. Windy Poplars is definitely my least favorite at this point as well. Oy. I just… don’t understand what happened there.

Thank you for the read along feedback! I will definitely keep that in mind. Would you prefer to jread a classic or something more modern for a read along? Any genre preferences?

      • Shouni January 29, 2018 at 10:42 am

Your posts were awesome! They reminded me how much I love those books

As long as it isn’t nonfiction I’m good. I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone of only Young Adult books because there are so many other good ones out there that I miss. Are you planning on hosting another read along?

  • alice minx January 26, 2018 at 9:48 pm

Oh I love this. I loved Anne as a girl I always wished I could be like her. Fierce and bright.. such a rolemodel

    • Jackie B January 28, 2018 at 6:59 pm

Thank you so much, Alice! This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to read these books, and I am completely with you. I wish that I had the opportunity to read these books as a child. I wonder how different I would be now, as an adult, knowing about Anne as a child.
